Ukraine in the Lens: Online Guest Speakers

29-30 March 2023, two online meetings with the American film scholars on the subject of Ukrainian cinema were arranged by Dr Olga Kyrylova, the FMS Visiting Assistant Professor, as a part of her classes FMS/SLAV 322 Soviet and Post-Soviet Cinema and FMS 177 Ukraine Through the Lens of Film.

Dr David Molina (University of Chicago) delivered a talk on Mutations and Mutilations of Language in the works of the Ukrainian film director Kira Muratova (Wednesday, March 29, 2023). Dr Richard Arnold (University of Muskingum, Ohio) lectured on The Cossack Image in Ukrainian Military (Thursday, March 30, 2023).

Earlier, on the 2nd of March 2023, KU students and faculty welcomed on zoom the filmmakers from Ukraine Taras Tomenko (producer) and Lyuba Yakymchuk (screenwriter), after the premiere screening of their film Slovo House (2022) arranged as a part of the First-Year Seminar 177 Ukraine Through the Lens of Film.
